The Visual Arts Program at the SAAAC Autism Centre is for autistic children and youth aged 6 and up. It is a calm, safe, and welcoming space where students can enjoy art in a way that feels comfortable for them.
There is no pressure to “do it right” or finish a project. Students can take their time. They may choose to watch first, try different art materials, or join in when they feel ready. Some students like to work alone, and others enjoy working with friends. All of these are okay.
Our goal is to help students feel safe and confident. When students feel relaxed and supported, they are more likely to try new things, express themselves, and build skills over time.
