Group Readiness Foundation

A comprehensive program for children aged 7-9 to develop essential group participation skills in a structured and supportive environment.


The Group Readiness Foundation program is designed to prepare children for successful participation in group settings. Over 12 weeks, children will engage in interactive and engaging activities to learn sitting in small groups, following teacher’s instructions, and participating in group routines. Caregivers will receive essential guidance to reinforce these skills at home, ensuring a smooth transition to more advanced social and educational experiences.

Program Details:

  • Start Date: September 9, 2024
  • End Date: November 25, 2024
  • Duration: 12 weeks
  • Ages: 7-9 years
  • Schedule: Mondays, 4:00 – 6:00 PM
  • Location: 1870 Birchmount Road, Scarborough
  • Language: All sessions will be conducted in English

Goals of the Program

  • Sitting in small group
  • Following teacher’s instructions
  • Following a group routine
  • Participating in circle time and other group activities
  • Transitioning between locations with the group

Eligibility

  • This program is best suited for children who can participate in a group setting without frequent one-on-one support.
  • If your child has behaviors such as self-harm or aggression, our ABA program might be a better fit to provide the necessary support.

What to Expect

  • A supportive and structured environment where children can practice essential group skills.
  • Children will be supported in a group setting with a ratio of 2 therapists to 4 children
  • Children will learn to sit in a small group, follow instructions, participate in group routines, engage in circle time, and transition between activities.
  • Caregivers will receive guidance and strategies to help their child continue developing group readiness skills at home.
