MUSIC THERAPY
Music has the unique ability to inspire and motivate, and through implementing this form of therapy SAAAC wishes to bring a sense of joy and fun to the process of teaching and learning.

MUSIC THERAPY

Music Therapy has been shown to be an an effective avenue to treat Autism and other pervasive developmental disorders. The goals of the music therapy sessions offered by SAAAC are the following:

  • Attempt to increase verbal and physical activity through song and dance
  • Create an environment for meaningful social interaction between students
  • Develop rhythm and coordination through playing musical instruments
  • Allow for students to freely express themselves through music

The qualities of music of being nonverbal, creative, and emotional appeal to anyone, and can be used as a viable teaching instrument to facilitate social interaction, self-expression, communication, and self development among children with ASD.
