At the SAAAC Autism Centre, we know that applying for funding programs like Special Services at Home (SSAH) can feel overwhelming—especially for families navigating it for the first time. That’s why we’re offering a free, in-person and virtual SSAH Workshop to help caregivers better understand the process, supports, and documentation needed.

Whether you’re new to SSAH or looking for help with your renewal, this session will walk you through the essentials and connect you with expert guidance.

What is SSAH?

The Special Services at Home (SSAH) program provides funding to families caring for a child with a developmental and/or physical disability. It helps families access services that:

  • Support the child in participating in everyday routines and community activities
  • Encourage social, emotional, and life skill development
  • Offer respite and relief to parents and caregivers

SSAH is designed to complement existing clinical and educational services—not replace them. This flexible funding allows families to apply for what matters most to their child’s growth and their family’s needs.

In this workshop, we’ll cover:

  • What SSAH is and who is eligible
  • What kinds of services and supports you can apply for
  • How to complete the application and write effective goals
  • Common documentation tips and best practices
  • Where to find support if you need help
  • Live Q&A with our guest speaker
    • Sanchitha Kannuthurai
      Care Coordinator, Autism Ontario
Sanchitha brings years of experience helping families access provincial funding and services. She’ll walk you through the SSAH application and provide insights to make the process easier and more manageable.

For many families, SSAH can make a meaningful difference—providing support for therapy, recreation, skill-building, and caregiver relief. Understanding how to navigate the system empowers families to advocate for what their child truly needs.

Whether you’re applying for the first time or looking for help with renewals, this workshop is a supportive space to learn, ask questions, and leave feeling more confident.
