A Vulnerable Sector Check is intended for individuals seeking employment or volunteer opportunities with vulnerable persons. A vulnerable person is defined as a person who, because of their age, a disability, or other circumstances, whether temporary or permanent, are (a) in a position of dependence on others or (b) are otherwise at a greater risk than the general population of being harmed by person(s) in a position of authority or trust to them.
At the SAAAC Autism Centre, we require a vulnerable sector check from all potential volunteers and staff. Here are ways you can obtain a copy of the vulnerable sector check for your region:

Peel Region – (MISSISAUGA, BRAMPTON, CALEDON) Access Peel Region’s vulnerable sector check information HERE
Toronto – (SCARBOROUGH,ETOBICOKE, NORTH YORK, DOWNTOWN TORONTO) For vulnerable sector check in Toronto, you will need to pick up an application form from the SAAAC Autism Centre, and then either drop it off at Toronto Police Services or mail it to them. We typically recommend mailing it as there’s no faster processing time for those that drop it off in person.
