What to Expect:
- Advanced Skill Development: build on foundational techniques with a focus on brush control, layering, color blending, composition, and various methods of paint application.
- Creative Autonomy Within Structure: While lessons are taught in a group format, artists are encouraged to make personal choices in how they approach projects – modifying techniques, exploring their own ideas, or adding their unique style.
- Neuroaffirming Learning Environment: Predictable routines, visual supports, and structured sessions ensure emotional and sensory safety, allowing artists to focus and flourish.
- Choice-Based Participation: We honour autonomy – artists can engage in the way that feels best for them, whether that’s experimenting with materials, collaborating, or observing until ready.
- Interest-Driven Social Interaction: Opportunities for connection through shared creative interests help foster authentic peer interactions and build community.
Our Approach:
We use a Pillar Model grounded in child development, autism research, and inclusive design. Our six core pillars include:
- Prepared & Predictable – Advanced information and structured routines reduce anxiety.
- Supported Visually – Visual aids, schedules, and step-by-step instructions clarify tasks.
- Communication-Friendly – Multiple methods to express and receive information.
- Sensory-Inclusive – Calming spaces, sensory tools, and breaks are always available.
- Autonomy-Respecting – Artists are free to explore at their own pace, with no pressure to perform.
Together, these pillars foster a program environment where curiosity, confidence, and creativity can grow naturally.
