What is ABA Therapy?

If you’re new to Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), you may have questions about how it supports children with autism. ABA is an evidence-based therapy that uses individualized strategies to improve communication, build independence, and increase meaningful skills. Backed by decades of research, ABA helps children thrive by breaking down complex tasks into small, teachable steps—guided by positive reinforcement and consistent support.

A therapist interacts warmly with two young children as they engage in a play-based learning activity in a classroom setting. The children sit side by side, practicing social and communication skills through guided interaction. This image represents the Dyad ABA Therapy program at the SAAAC Autism Centre, which supports development through structured peer-based learning and individualized behaviour strategies.

At SAAAC, we offer a variety of ABA programs designed to support children at different stages of development and social readiness. From individualized 1:1 therapy to Dyad and Group ABA sessions, our programs provide opportunities for learning in both one-on-one and peer-based environments. These varied formats allow children to build foundational skills and practice them in more dynamic, social settings.

Whether your child needs focused individual support or would benefit from collaborative learning with peers, our ABA programs are structured to meet them where they are—and help them grow. Each program is led by trained, compassionate therapists who understand how to tailor learning for children from diverse backgrounds and abilities.

We’re excited to show you what’s possible.

We can’t wait to welcome you, share our approach, and show how ABA at SAAAC is creating lasting change.
