Introduction to DSO Housing Navigation
Presented by: Alexandra Shannan, Housing Navigator – Toronto Region

Finding safe, supportive housing is one of the most important steps toward long-term independence for individuals with developmental disabilities. That’s why we’re inviting families and caregivers to join us for a hybrid workshop led by Alexandra Shannan, Housing Navigator for the Toronto Region.

This session will explore how to begin—or continue—building a person-centred housing plan rooted in individual needs, goals, and values. Whether you’re just starting your housing journey or looking to expand your options, this workshop will guide you through key considerations and actionable next steps.

Participants will learn about a variety of housing models available both within and outside the developmental services sector, including:

  • Supported Independent Living
  • Shared Living Arrangements
  • Affordable Housing Options

You’ll also get introduced to practical tools and resources, such as:

  • The DSO Housing Toolkit
  • Budgeting Supports
  • Planning Guides for Greater Independence
