Her personality shines through her art. Taniya is a quiet artist who learns by observing the world around her. She loves being in the studio, always eager to paint and grow her skills. As her confidence grows, so does her art, each piece showing the joy she finds in the creative process.

Eternal Bloom Mural, February 2024
Medium: Acrylic paint
Inspired by Taniya’s great interest of warm-toned shades and floral pieces in mind, this mural was created to bring light to a usually monochromatic room. “Eternal Bloom” captures the essence of Taniya’s bright personality, as its vibrant colours and phrase, “Grow through what you go through”, inspires one to never give up on their dreams, just like her.

Medium: Watercolor on Paper
Taniya used watercolor to create custom portraits of SAAAC staff, showcasing her unique artistic style. Her technique often highlights intricate details, like the patterns on clothing or accessories, while maintaining a playful, approachable feel. This project was designed to provide employment opportunities for Taniya through her passion for the arts. For a fee, Taniya created personalized portraits, offering a creative and meaningful way to support her talent while also contributing to the community.
IKEA World Autism Awareness Day, April 2024
In celebration of World Autism Awareness Day, IKEA Scarborough Centre has graciously partnered with us to host an art exhibit showcasing the exceptional artwork created by our artists. Taniya had her art work dispalyed to the public through this exhibit.

Taniya was one of many artists that contributed the Sweet Gestures collaborative series.
The inspiration behind the “Sweet Gestures” series comes from the unique perspectives and experiences of the autism community.
Each piece in this series, whether a slice of cake or a peace sign, embodies the importance of small acts of kindness and their profound impact.
“Sweet Gestures” celebrates the beauty of everyday moments and the power of simple, kind actions. Just as a piece of cake or shared ice cream can bring joy, gestures like a handshake or the sign language for love can bridge gaps and create connections. This series aims to highlight how these gestures, often taken for granted, are essential in fostering understanding, acceptance, and compassion within our community.
