saaACTIVE is a series of fundraising initiatives looking to support autism services while engaging communities in a more active lifestyle.

Toronto, ONSequence Media will be launching  saaACTIVE – a series of fundraising initiatives that not only helps raise autism awareness, but also creates a more active community.

“Most of our community events require us to sit down, eat and drink, especially around Christmas time. One of the main purposes of saaACTIVE is to create change through activities, and of course, a little bit of healthy competition. It encourages community members to get excited and get moving for a cause”, says Kavitha Aryharan of the saaACTIVE team.

All proceeds from saaACTIVE events will go towards programming and projects that create a more active and healthy lifestyle for the children and young adults with autism. The following are some of the initiatives saaACTIVE events will help fund:

-sports and play workshops for SAAAC students and young adults

-fitness room at SAAAC Centre

-fun and active workshops for SAAAC parents (parent ZUMBA, yoga, etc.)

saaACTIVE plans to organize events throughout the year, focusing on different sports to get members of the community (all ages and skill levels) to come out and participate for a great cause. As a trial run, Spike 4 SAAAC (held in October 2014) was an incredible success, raising $1,700 for SAAAC programming.

Sequence Media has always been a long time supporter of SAAAC, and through the saaACTIVE initiative, the organization hopes to create fundraisers that are unique and fun, and helps raise much needed awareness and resources for autism programs and services.
