Geetha Moorthy of SAAAC Autism Centre Named 2019 RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Award

Toronto, September, 19, 2019 – The SAAAC Autism Centre is proud to announce that Geetha Moorthy, Founder & Executive Director has been named a Finalist for the 2019 RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards for the Social Change Award. The RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards are the pre-eminent national business awards recognizing the country’s leading female entrepreneurs. Now in its 27th year, the program is an initiative of Women of Influence, an award-winning organization dedicated to advancing Canadian women.

From a pool of thousands of nominees, 23 Finalists from coast to coast have been selected to represent 7 Award Categories. The Social Change Award is dedicated to a female entrepreneur that is an exceptional leader of a registered charity, not-for-profit or for-profit social enterprise that is dedicated to social change. Geetha is one of 3 Regional Finalists being recognized in this category, representing the Central Canada.

The SAAAC Autism Centre is a Toronto based charity that primarily supports under resourced families and communities who typically find it a challenge to access quality ASD care. In its mission to make autism care equitable for all Canadians, the Centre engages in a wide range of advocacy and awareness building initiatives along with providing free and subsidized programs. Presently, the SAAAC Autism Centre serves 350+ families through 15 unique programming streams, which are supported by 21 staff members and over 150 incredible volunteers.

“It is truly to an honour to be nominated for this award alongside some incredible women who are doing incredible work,” says Geetha. “The SAAAC Autism Centre is not a story about one person, it’s a story of hundreds who have helped in various capacities to make it such a valuable resource in the community. The winners will be announced and celebrated at the 27th Annual Awards Gala, on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at the Fairmont Royal York in Toronto.

The RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards recognizes female business owners from across Canada who make impressive and substantial contributions to the local, Canadian or global economy. Candidates share a strong entrepreneurial vision and a relentless passion in pursuing their dreams. These awards recognize business women from three major regions across Canada: East, Central and West. All nominees were required to submit thorough applications, which are reviewed and judged by a panel of prominent business leaders and subject to a due diligence performed by KPMG..
