Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapy
ABA Therapy actively engages children who commonly have communication, socialization, learning and behavioural problems. Generally, ABA Therapists look to increase socially significant behaviour and decrease inappropriate behaviour through one-on-one teaching. The skills ABA Therapy looks to build are the following:
- Social Interaction
- Appropriate play (where playing has a social and intellectual function)
- Reading/writing
- School readiness skills
- Arithmetic
- How to use and understand language and more…
Experts say pre-schoolers diagnosed with ASD should have up to 40 hours a week of the intensive teaching for at least two years in order to see significant improvement. SAAAC wishes to implement these recommendations, and by doing so we are offering children the ability to gain viable skills that will aid in their intellectual and social growth.
