What is Bhar-A-thon?

Bhar-A-thon is SAAAC’s twist on the traditional dance-a-thon. We invite everyone to come participate in a four hour non-stop dance extravaganza. The money raised from this event will go to support and develop our SMART Arts Program. Come dance, raise money, connect with your community, and win some great prizes.

OK, so what do I do?

Well, first figure out how you want to participate. This year’s Bhar-A-thon will give you the opportunity to either participate by yourself or with a team!

Solo Model You think you can do it yourself eh? Click on the following link to register and download your pledge form: http://eepurl.com/l09bj . Then, go out and collect as much money as possible! Friends, neighbors, businesses, the mailman, that aunt you only see once a year. Once you collected your money, bring it on the day of the event, and we will register you and give you your raffle tickets for your chance to take home cool prizes. The only requirement for participating in the solo model at Bhar-A-thon is the following:

  • Participant must raise a minimum of $50.00

Crew Love What about gathering up a bunch of your friends and trying to raise money together? It’s fun and it’ll increase your chances of taking home prizes. To be eligible to enter as a crew you must meet two requirements:

  • Crews must raise a minimum of $500.00 total to enter Bhar-A-thon
  • Crews must be composed of 5 members

Each member of your crew will get 10 raffle tickets, which significantly increases your chances to win some really great prizes (IPAD anyone?).  Click on the following link to register and to download pledge forms: http://eepurl.com/l09bj

Hey, I want to dance, but I don’t want to collect pledges. Can I still come?

Yes, you can still attend the event. Just pay $20 at the door and have yourself a blast dancing the afternoon away. The downside – you will not be eligible to win prizes at Bhar-A-thon.

What do I get?

The satisfaction you are helping out a great organization and a great cause isn’t enough? Fine, in addition to being a great human being, you will also be entered to win some amazing prizes. Check it out:

Tier 2: If you collect $50-100, you will be entered into the Tier 2 prize category. You will receive 1 raffle ticket for every $50 you collect

Tier 2 Prizes:

  • Kindle
  • Beats by Dre Headphones

Tier 1: If you collect $100+, you will be entered into the Tier 1 prize category. You will receive 1 raffle ticket for every $50 you collect.

Tier 1 Prizes:

  • Ipad
  • Mac Air Laptop

What Can I expect at Bhar-A-thon?

Great music. Great people. A whole lot of dancing! Now if you feel you got some skills, feel free to bring your own unique dance style, but for those who feel rhythmically challenged – no worries. Every hour a new dance style will be taught to you by a group of really talented instructors. The styles chosen to be taught this year are the following:

  • Hip Hop/Reggae
  • Bollywood
  • Gaana
  • Bhangra
  • Hula

There will be quite a few distractions as well: face painting, henna designs, and games

For the fashionably inclined there will also be a jewelry booth. All jewelry will be created and customized by the kids of SAAAC. If you want to support a great cause and look good while doing it, consider purchasing some of our unique jewelry pieces.

Light Refreshments will be served!

There you have it folks. Spending a summer afternoon dancing to some great music, learning new dance styles, and meeting some great people doesn’t sound so shabby does it? So, come out and support an organization looking to make meaningful changes in the lives of those impacted by autism. Dance Today. Change Tomorrow.
